Redknapp wants new deal for Lualua
Pompey want to keep hold of star striker Lomana Lualua, the popular DR Congo player only has one year left on his current deal one which Redknapp wants to extend.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp told The News “It’s hard enough to find decent players, so you’ve got to hang on to the ones you’ve got.
“Lualua’s a match winner on his day. He’s got the ability to turn games. Ask any defender – they don’t like playing against him.
“Lua’s got a year left, but I want to keep him for longer. He was crucial to us last season when he scored four goals in four games. In one match at West Ham he slaughtered them. I think he’s a handful. I’d rather have him on my side than against me.”

Redknapp also hit out at rumours that Lualua did not fancy playing in Portsmouth’s final few games of last season as he didn’t want to be in a relegation dogfight.
He said “I cant believe all that rubbish. Of course he wanted to play – but he wasn’t fit.
“People say you should just push through the pain barrier. I’ve heard that said before and then seen players out for a year.
“Lualua was desperate to play. He was bang in form. Because he didn’t have a something like a broken ankle, people couldn’t imagine how bad his injury was, people questioned it.”
“I know he’s a scatter-brain at times. You’re not going to change that. But at the same time, he’s got fantastic ability and can win games for you.
“I didn’t see too many like him at the World Cup. He’s got a bit of magic. He can do something.”
So its clear Harry still rates Lualua, however with Harry raving about Benjani as well and big name strikers looking like signing soon something will have to give, unless the strikers are rotated round picking the best strike pair for each game.
I cant believe people were thinking he was faking injury have people forgotten what happened to his son during the African Nations cup, we could of lost Lualua after that but his need to play football kept him going and kept us going and kept us in the Premiership, someone that driven wouldn’t duck out of a fight especially when they were in that kind of form. Cmon Harry get a signature on a contract extension quick.

Lua Lua is a great player and I'd fully endorse everything Harry has said about his abilities, with what looks like a couple of additional options coming to the club in his position I guess competition is going to be fierce.
I hope he doesn't demand silly money, cmon Harry get him signed.
