Recent comments from former Pompey keeper Dean Kiely about being badly treated by Pompey have earned an angry reaction from manager Harry Redknapp.
The 36 year old keeper who joined Portsmouth during the transfer window last January and became Pompey's number one keeper straight away and was a major part of last season's great escape, however in the summer Redknapp brought in ex-England number one David James from Manchester City Kiely dropped to number two choice before leaving for West Brom during the January transfer window.
Talking to The News Redknapp said "If Dean Kiely has been treated so badly how come we're paying his wages at West Brom?"
"How come we're paying £10,000 a week for him to play for them? That's how badly we're treating him."
"I signed David James. What was I supposed to do? Jamo became available so I went out and got him. He has shown his is the best keeper in the Premiership this season."
"I don't know why Dean criticised Jamo the day he signed. He called him a showbiz goalkeeper. Dean should have just got on with it."
"I doubt Andy O'Brien was too pleased when Sol Campbell came in but he has got his head down and worked."
"I have no problem with Dean. He played a big part keeping us up last season. But players coming in and going out is part and parcel of the game."
"I'm sorry he feels that way if he has any problem with me. I wish him all the best."
