Think you have FA Cup final tickets?

If you bought FA Cup final tickets and have not received them you may want to check with Ticket Master that your order has not been cancelled.

Portsmouth FC have cancelled ticket orders that did not meet the criteria of at least one home ticket purchased this season. However as several fans including myself have found that fans with a legitimate claim are having their tickets cancelled due to failings in the Portsmouth FC database and that Ticket Master didn't follow the correct procedure when selling the tickets. Worse than that is that the club don't seem to be telling people their orders are being cancelled possibly leaving people ticketless and not giving people enough time to make representation to the club.

In my case the club had not updated their customer database with my correct address even though I had asked them to when buying tickets earlier in the year, and that Ticket Master had not asked for the details of any other person on the database. I even got a email from Ticket Master with the Royal Mail tracking number of the tickets, they were that close to dispatch before being held.

Calling the club today I found that they indeed have a record of me purchasing the correct number of tickets, however not at the right address. After a bit of digging they found both my purchases and my housemates and I will have to write to PFC with all the details and I should get the tickets I ordered reinstated, although any inquiries about this have to be with the club by Monday.   Here's hoping all of this has a happy ending.

After writing this I did receive an email today telling me of the cancellation from Ticket Master.

If you don't have one already create an account on Ticketmaster.co.uk

While this is a bit of a cockup, I do have to add that the club have been really helpful in getting this sorted.   The only negative I would say so far is that the tickets could not have been reinstated once PFC had been made aware of the facts and now I have put it all in writing, leaving me dangling not knowing whether I'm going to the Cup Final or not.

Text of the email sent to me by Ticket Master.

Dear Ticketmaster Customer,

We are contacting you regarding your recent purchase of tickets to the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 17 May 2008.

The sale of tickets on Tuesday 29 April for the Final was restricted to those supporters who were on the Portsmouth FC database as having personally purchased tickets to at least one Portsmouth FC match at Fratton Park this season.

The terms and conditions of this on sale were outlined on the Club's website, which also stated that all bookings would be checked against this database. Furthermore, during the sales process, our Call Centre Agents asked all customers purchasing tickets if they were on the Portsmouth FC database.

The Club has subsequently checked all ticket sales processed by Ticketmaster on their behalf against their database, in order to ensure that tickets have only been allocated to qualifying supporters.

We regret to advise you that the club found you do not meet the above criteria and we have therefore been instructed to cancel the booking on their behalf. We will therefore cancel your booking and refund all charges to the card used at the time of booking.

Should you have any queries please contact our Customer Support Team on 08444 999 999 or by clicking on

If you have been affected by this, I called the PFC Ticket Line on 0844 847 1898, and went to Customer Services (Option 6).  Where they were very helpful.

Due to the number of fans seemingly affected by this the line was very busy this morning so it may take you some time to get through, took me an hour.
