Niko Kranjcar

Hello,

what's the latest? Is he staying or leaving?

Was reading he's got to offers to leave in January transfer.

Hi ZG,

My gut feeling is that he is staying, he's not been an amazing sucess with us this season, but he's not had the time on the pitch to really adjust yet but it does seem to be improving.

He started against Bolton today and setup Andy Cole's goal, however overall didnt seem upto the standard of the Premiership although he does show it in patches so it may still be getting used to English football.

Hi Jenni,

I wish he stay put and next season do much better as he can.

Here's new clip of him on youtube

You can see Eduardo and Modric there too. New generation coming through.Smile

All the best in new 2007!Drinks

Certainly good to see some of his Pompey performances in there, although he is on the bench today.

One problem he does have at Pompey, good midfielders are something we arent short of, had he of come here last year before we bought Davis and Mendes he may of had more time on the pitch.

Perhaps if  Fernandes does not sign there will be more minutes for Niko?

Well Fernandes has gone, but he played in a different position, currently Kranjcar has been playing attacking left midfield, a spot normally occupied by Matty Taylor but due to recient injuries he has been playing at left back.

Now we have cover at left back I imagine Kranjcar will be on the bench more, but with squad rotation I'm sure he will get games and it does look like he is starting to get used to the English game.

Niko is on the bench more than I think he should. He is such a usefull player. I think he should play so more than he does know at Portmouth. Maybe Harry Redknapp wants to give him more time?? Hope he'll play against Manchester this Saturday!! It will be good for the game..
Its one of these hard things, is he currently better than other players we have available?  No, I would rather have Matty Taylor play there, however could he be better? Perhaps if given the time, some of the video's I've seen of him he could be.

If you were in Harry's position would you gamble on a could be or keep a good player playing?

However the way things end up going players get suspended and injured, he will have plenty of attempts to prove himself.  If nothing else by next season he should be pushing to be first choice in that position once he has fully adjusted to the English game.

I agree with you. But I hope he will use the time he gets, to prove himself. He's always been a promise, and I guess it's great for him if people stop seeing him as a promise, and see him as a great player. Not as the player with just potential, but as the player that uses that potential.

I'm a fan of Niko, and I'll always support him, and ofcourse pompey, I know they can do the job ;).

(I'm the same Anonymous as last time)

Sounds like he's happy here, and knows its just getting used to the English game thats keeping him from a regular place.

This article really made me feel better. I know now what's going on. I'm satisfied.

I hope he can play tomorrow. Was that why he wasn't on the selection last Saturday? I did not know he damaged his ankle, I hope it's allright now.

Niko is not on the squad, is that because of his ankle again?

Listening to the game on the local radio station (The advantages of living in Portsmouth) and they havent given a reason, he's not even on the bench so I would say injury.

However with Traore back as our prefered left back and Matty Taylor our prefered left midfielder I doubt Kranjcar will get as many starts as he would like, it is a surprise not to see him on the bench.

It was a surprise for me to. It could be he is in Zagreb at the moment for the Croatia game against Norway Wednesday, but I doubt that. Hope his ankle is allright, an injury is never fun.

Verry pitty it was a draw yesterday!
